I usually feel sad at this time of year. Summer is giving way to autumn, the leaves fall golden from the trees. Somehow, this year feels different.
I think it’s because we have had a couple of months or so of sunshine. August was amazing, wasn’t it? Walking in Stanmer Park today I really felt the late summer. The smell of a distant fire, blackberries and the warmth of the sun. I felt as if summer wanted to stay around for a little longer yet.
It has been a pleasure to work in sundappled gardens.
I hope we have a golden autumn. I want to go running in the leaves with my wife and children. We are lucky to live in Sussex! We have the sea and the countryside. Here’s to a glorious September!
